For one of our first Advent activities Anders and I went to see a local production of Annie.
I have a memory of seeing Annie in L.A. as a kid, but I’m not sure if that’s a real memory or if it’s something I made up. Maybe my mom will verify it in the comments. Real or not, it’s a nice memory.
I am sure that I was in Annie in 8th grade. I played Lily St. Regis. She’s basically a hooker who hangs out with Miss Hannigan’s brother, Rooster. They pretend to be Annie’s parents in order to collect the reward from Oliver Warbucks. I think I got the part because there isn’t much singing. I’ve never been a good singer, but I was a good student and I can imagine that the teacher would try to find something for me. I also played one of the hobos.
Because of these two experiences (real or not), Annie has a special place in my heart. Plus, I know the words to all the songs. When I saw it was playing in Livingston I wanted to take Anders.
After the show, I asked him if he liked it, or if it wasn’t his thing. He said he really liked it because we got a big cookie before the show.
Annie is really an unforgettable movie for me. I usually watch it over over again when I was child. Her songs are memorable as well. 🙂
